POOL SAFETY NOTICE

Special Message regarding pool saefty

Last season there were several drownings in the area (not involving our pool), though we would like to reiterate the safety policy that specifically addresses single guard pools.

1. Bathroom breaks - if the lifeguard needs to go to the bathroom, the pool will be cleared of all ages while he or she exits the pool deck and returns. Nobody will be permitted to sit on the side of the pool with their feet dangling in the water. Everyone must be back away from the edge of the pool.

2. Chemical Checks/ Pump Room - during the time when the lifeguard must check the pool water, all patrons will be asked to exit the water for the brief 5 - 10 mins to test and record the water chemistry. If adjustments need to be made and the lifeguard needs to go into the pump room, all patrons must remain out of the pool.

3. If there is nobody at the pool, during the time a lifeguard must use the bathroom or go to the pump room, the gate will be locked so that nobody will be able to get onto the deck without the lifeguard present. The lifeguard will immediately reopen the gate upon exiting the bathroom or pump room.

4. Lifeguards are to be in the elevated lifeguard chairs provided at the property. They must be able to clearly see the entire bottom of the pool from where they are sitting and most often are not able to do this if they are sitting in a deck chair.

Unfortunately, the nationwide statistics are high:
1. Since Memorial Day weekend, there have been 77 drownings and 78 near drownings.
2. Each year, 390 kids, under the age of 14, die in accidental drownings.
3. Each year, 5,200 kids require treatment in an emergency room.
4. Drowning is the #1 cause of death in ages 5 and under.

We need to continue to work together to keep our pools as safe as possible. Thank you for your continued efforts to support pool safety at our pool.  Many thanks.

Wood Creek Golf Links

Eastern Golf, LLC, managed by Chris Zidanic, is busy prepping the golf course for the spring. In order for Chris and his crew to get the golf course up to par he has asked that Wood Creek residents please refrain from using the golf cart paths along golf course. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to having another season with a beautiful, well maintained golf course.

Flag Raising Event

Approximately 30 residents participated in the 2012 Independence Day Flag-Raising event, including Delmar Mayor, Carl Anderton and Delmar Commissioner, Bunky Luffman. The American Flag was hoisted by six veterans from the community; the Maryland flag was raised by Barry Mehta; the Delmar Town flag was raised by the Mayor; and the community flag was raised by our first residents, Paul and Jill Braungart. The event was followed by a reception at the clubhouse.

SPECIAL            NOTICES

Notice to Residents & Visitors:

Do NOT walk out onto

the golf course!

For your own safety, we do not want anyone suffering injury from getting hit by a golf ball.  Golfers are not expecting random people to be walking around the course.

For the sake of maintenance, please do not enter the boundaries of the course... no adults, no children, no pets, no bikes.  Any damage to the course features hinders play and the viability of the course itself... and any interruption in the management of the course directly affects our home values.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping make Wood Creek a great community!

The fobs that you currently have in your possession may no longer work.  New fobs or reactivation of old fobs, if possible, will be issued to homeowners who are up-to-date on their Facilities dues.

Please contact the Pro Shop to order your new fobs or request activation of your old fobs, if possible.

SPRINKER SYSTEM

PLEASE DO NOT turn on your sprinklers on your own.  Homeowner interference has caused some of the valves to break and have to be replaced, leading to further delays in repairing sections of the sprinkler system throughout the community.

Also, please be aware of the sprinkler heads located in the grass near your driveway - please do not drive over them - it will damage them.
